Photographer Orangutan's work on eBay

Nonja, the Orangutan that turned a photographer after receiving a digital camera from her keepers, is now selling her work on eBay. Each of her framed works printed on canvas also carries her trademark thumbprint signature. An exhibition of Nonja's best 20 snaps had also been unveiled in the zoo. Cash raised from the effort will go to protecting the habitat of wild orangutans in Borneo.

Nonja Orangutan Photo

All these started when Nonja's keepers at Vienna's Schoenbrunn zoo in Austria gave her a digital camera that dispenses raisins when a picture is taken. The 33-year-old orangutan learned that when she press a button, the raisins pops up. In this way she became a photographer and got her own Facebook profile. Snaps from the digital camera are uploaded instantly over a WiFi link. Nonja was also a painter and her works often reached up to £2,000 at auction. Right now, she has 155 photos on Facebook and more than 82,000 fans. The above photograph was taken by Nonja. Amazing, isn't it?

The new achievement by Shaw Floors shattered the previous Largest Pie Fight record of 269 participants, which was set by the television show "LIVE! With Regis and Kelly" on September 17, 2009. Shaw Floors held the pie fight event on its premium Anso nylon carpet as a way to demonstrate Anso nylon's superior ability to repel stains and to be easily cleaned. And yes, the carpet proved it's stain-repelling power, as 3,000 pounds of pie was cleaned from the carpet after the event!

On Thursday Guinness World Records confirmed Kosen's titles at the launch of the 2010 edition of the Guinness World Records book in London. A spokesman for Guinness World Records said Mr Kosen was the first person in more than a decade it had recognized as being more than 8ft in height.

Sultan Kosen grew normally until he was 10, but then a tumor caused him to develop a medical condition called pituitary gigantism, which affects hormone production and results in extreme growth, thickening of bones and large extremities. The tumor was removed last year and his growth stopped.

Giant Panda celebrates 4th Birthday

Giant Panda

Tai Shan, a Giant Panda, recently celebrated his 4th birthday at the  Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Many guests attended his birthday party and the main attraction of the party was a three-tiered "veggie-sicle" cake. The frozen cake was made over the course of two weeks by Zoo commissary staff by freezing a combination of water, beets and beet juice while enhancing it with bamboo and fruit. Tai quickly took to the frozen treat, licking at the ice, spotting his furry face with the melting beet juice. Take a look at the pictures.

US Soldier Fights in Pink Underpants!

Recently an US soldier battled against the militants wearing his pink "I love New York" underwear. Take a look at the picture. No, this is not a Photoshop stuff. This is real and it appeared on the front page of The New York Times.

Zachary Boyd, the 19-year-old soldier, was sleeping when his platoon came under a sudden attack by militants in Afghanistan. Before standing against the enemy, Boyd managed to grab his helmet and body armour only. So, an Associated Press photographer got the chance to capture the rare moment - a soldier battling the enemy in his underwear!

That was definitely a funny situation. But in my view the soldier did his duty perfectly. What you say?

Homemade Kawasaki ZXR400!

Love bikes? What about Kawasaki ZXR400? Introduced in 1989, the Kawasaki ZXR400 was one of the first and most popular of the 400cc sportsbikes that swept across Japan and later Europe in the 1990s. It was discontinued in 1999. Well, some people still love it and when they are unable to get one, they try to make their own version of the sportsbike. Take a look at the photograph below. A cool homemade Kawasaki ZXR400. Wanna go for a ride? No, thanks!
