Did you know that one man who served Adolf Hitler as a bodyguard is still alive? 93 years old Rochus Misch, the last surviving bodyguard of Adolf Hitler, is saying goodbye to fan mails! Misch, who served Hitler during World War II has said that he can no longer reply to fan mails that he receives from different corners of the world because of his age.

Rochus Misch served Hitler as telephone operator, bodyguard and courier boy. After Hitler's suicide he was captured by Soviet forces. He is believed to be the last person alive who have seen Hitler. Misch has a large fan base who writes to him mostly for autographs. In the past he used to send fans autographed copies of wartime photos of himself in a SS uniform. Now the incoming fan mail, including letters and packages, piles up in his flat in south Berlin.

German tabloid Berliner Kurier quoted him as saying that "They (letters) come from Korea, from Knoxville, Tennessee, from Finland and Iceland - and not one has a bad word to say". But due to his age it was "no longer possible" to reply all those fan mails. Misch now depends on a walking frame to move around his apartment.

Doctors in Germany have released the photographs of the world's smallest baby boy, who was born prematurely at 25 weeks weighing just 275 grams. He was so little at birth that a tape measure laid next to his body was wider than his limbs. According to recorded information he is the lightest boy worldwide who has survived an early birth. The boy was born in June 2009 in the University Hospital at Goettingen through a Caesarean section. The boy was only 27 centimeters long. Doctors did not believe he would live when he was born but tried hard to keep him alive. And finally they win and the baby boy survived! In December, after six months in intensive care, the baby was allowed home with his parents. Now the boy weighs 3,700 grams, a normal birth weight.

World Record for Holding Breath Underwater

Swiss freediver Peter Colat has just broken the Guinness World Record for holding a breath underwater by holding his breathe for 19 minutes and 21 seconds. The 38-year-old freediver from Zurich performed the feat in a water tank in St Gallen, Switzerland.

According to Colat, the first 12 minutes were easier. He was allowed to breathe pure oxygen for 10 minutes before the attempt. Colat beat the previous Guinness World Record, held by Nicola Putignano of Italy, by 19 seconds. Congratulations Colat. It was really impressive and impossible!

Photographer Orangutan's work on eBay

Nonja, the Orangutan that turned a photographer after receiving a digital camera from her keepers, is now selling her work on eBay. Each of her framed works printed on canvas also carries her trademark thumbprint signature. An exhibition of Nonja's best 20 snaps had also been unveiled in the zoo. Cash raised from the effort will go to protecting the habitat of wild orangutans in Borneo.

All these started when Nonja's keepers at Vienna's Schoenbrunn zoo in Austria gave her a digital camera that dispenses raisins when a picture is taken. The 33-year-old orangutan learned that when she press a button, the raisins pops up. In this way she became a photographer and got her own Facebook profile. Snaps from the digital camera are uploaded instantly over a WiFi link. Nonja was also a painter and her works often reached up to £2,000 at auction. A new world record has been set for world's largest pie fight! On January 7, 2010, carpet manufacturer and flooring provider, Shaw Floors successfully achieved the Guinness World Records for the World's Largest Pie Fight during the company's Dallas market event. The history-making event involved 434 participants as well as 1,200 cherry, chocolate and apple pies. Take a look at the pictures.

The new achievement by Shaw Floors shattered the previous Largest Pie Fight record of 269 participants, which was set by the television show "LIVE! With Regis and Kelly" on September 17, 2009. The Northwestern study is the first research on microbial effects on inflammatory systems in infancy that relate in later life to diseases associated with aging. Most provocatively, it suggested that exposure to infectious microbes early in life may actually protect individuals from cardiovascular diseases that can lead to death as an adult and exposure to ultra-hygienic environments early in life may create great problems in adulthood.

Exposure to clean, hygienic environment may cause harm, because humans only recently have lived in such hyper-hygienic environments. The research suggests that inflammatory systems may need a higher level of exposure to common everyday bacteria and microbes to guide their development. "In other words, inflammatory networks may need the same type of microbial exposures early in life that have been part of the human environment for all of our evolutionary history to function optimally in adulthood," said researcher McDade.

"In the U.S we have this idea that we need to protect infants and children from microbes and pathogens at all possible costs. But we may be depriving developing immune networks of important environmental input needed to guide their function throughout childhood and into adulthood. Without this input, our research suggests, inflammation may be more likely to be poorly regulated and result in inflammatory responses that are overblown or more difficult to turn off once things get started," McDade added.

Shark's Caesarean Bite saves Four Babies!

Sharks do give birth by Caesarean operation! In an unbelievable act, a shark in a New Zealand aquarium bit the stomach of another one to gave birth to four babies. So, it was a Caesarean bite given to save the babies? According to news reports, the four babies are now safe and soon will be released into the wild.

Staff at Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, in Auckland were not aware that one of the female school sharks in the aquarium was pregnant. It is only when some visitors came running to tell that baby fish were spilling from a wound of shark, the aquarium stuff came to know about pregnancy. But it was already late and they found the female with a large gaping stomach wound and four babies swimming in the tank. Another shark already did the job of a surgeon by biting the female school shark's stomach.

In wild, sharks do bite each other, but till now it was not known that they do use the biting method to give birth. According to experts, the shark that helped had to bite a certain part of the stomach to release the babies without killing them or the mother. On the other hand, if the female shark had given birth naturally, most likely at night, the babies would have been eaten by adult sharks and stingrays before they could be rescued. Twin Ducklings hatch from One Egg!

The ducklings named Romulus and Remus will now become pets at the Cornish Duck Company in St Austell, Cornwall.

British farmer Roger Olver and partner Tanya Dalton had overseen the hatching of a group of eggs when they noticed that one was left uncracked and when she tried to help it turned out to a rare spectacle. When Tanya tried to break it, she saw a beak peck through at one end, but was stunned when seconds later another bird emerged from the other end.

"When we did the hatch there was one duckling left struggling to get out at the end," the Telegraph quoted Olver, 56, as saying.

"It was unbelievable. Two ducklings from the same egg. We managed to get them both out and now they are doing fine. They are in perfect health. They're looking pretty good, bearing in mind they were cooped up together in the same shell," Olver added.

Tanya Dalton, 38 has described the births as a "miracle" and has prepared an area at the farm where Romulus and Remus can be kept as pets.

According to a recent survey, more than one in four employees have had their ideas stolen at work and more than half of those who have had their ideas stolen never did anything in response. Miss World Singapore 2009 winner Ris Low, who was revealed to be a convict of a credit card fraud, has decided to back out of the finals at Miss World 2009 to be held in South Africa in December. I think it was for the first time in Miss World history, a contestant backed out because of revealed fraud.

Ris Low was already under presser after a slew of negative media reports, where she incurred the ire of the public for her poor English, according to local radio 938 Live. Later, news of her conviction for credit card fraud in May also surfaced, which put her in the spotlight again. She was sentenced to two years' probation for using illegally obtained credit cards to purchase expensive items and dining at posh restaurants, running a bill close to 8,000 dollars.

Asteroid named after Rescuer of Anne Frank's Diary

On Sunday, an asteroid between the planets Mars and Jupiter has been named after Miep Gies, the woman who saved the diary of Anne Frank. The asteroid, discovered in 1972, orbits between Mars and Jupiter and has an estimated diameter of seven kilometers. From now on it will be known as Miep Gies. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) said it wanted to draw attention to the steadfast courage of the now 100-year-old last surviving helper of the Frank family who hid in a building behind a house in Amsterdam during World War II.

Gies, now aged 100, took care of the Franks - the teenaged Anne, her parents and sister - and other Jews who hid from the Nazis in the Netherlands. Anne kept the diary from 1942-1944, while living in a building at 263 Prinsengracht. After they were discovered and deported, it was Gies who found and hid Anne's diary.

Anne Frank died of typhus at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March 1945, shortly before her sixteenth birthday and the end of the war. After the war, Gies gave the only surviving family member, Otto Frank his daughter's diary. The world famous diary of Anne Frank, which is now in Anne Frank museum, attracts nearly a million visitors as year from all over the world.

In a diary entry dated July 11, 1943, Anne wrote: "Miep is just like a pack mule, she fetches and carries so much. Almost every day she manages to get hold of some vegetables for us and brings everything in shopping bags on her bicycle."

More than half of babies born in rich countries after year 2000 will live to 100 years, a paper published in the latest edition of medical journal Lancet suggests. According to the Danish experts, life expectancy in developed countries increased by more than 30 years since the 20th century and surprisingly the trend shows no sign of slowing down. So, if the trend continues, most babies born today in developed countries will live to see the 22nd century.

For the study, James Vaupel of the Max Planck Institute in Germany and colleagues in Denmark examined data published globally on numerous issues related to aging in 2004-2005. They found that human life expectancy is increasing steadily in most countries and there is no sign of slowing down. It is basically the improvements in health care, that are slowing down the process of aging and challenging the idea that there is a limit to human longevity.

While illnesses affecting the elderly like heart disease, cancer and diabetes are rising, advances in medical treatment are also making it possible for them to remain active for longer. But the obesity epidemic may complicate the matters. Though our kids could live to be 100, obesity could make them more susceptible to diseases and may even increase their risk of earlier deaths from cancer, diabetes, and other chronic diseases.

Guy Laliberte : The First Space Clown

A pregnant woman in US got the most shocking news of her life when she visited her doctors for a routine ultrasound and found that she is pregnant again! Sounds weird, isn't it? But, this is the truth. Julia Grovenburg from Arkansas conceived the second baby two-and-a-half weeks after the first. This extremely rare case is called "superfoetation", in which a woman conceives for a second time while she is already pregnant.

Dr Karen Boyle, of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center said: "When the woman had her ultrasound initially they saw one sack, one baby developing, and that baby had a certain gestational age." Then they noticed a second heartbeat in a child that was much, much younger developmentally.

The 31-year-old woman was first pregnant with a baby girl. But, the recent ultrasound report showed that next to the baby girl there was a second, younger male baby developing side by side in Mrs Julia Grovenburg's womb. Julia Grovenburg and her husband Todd had already named the baby girl as Jillian. Now they will call the younger one as Hudson.

Superfoetation condition is very very rare and it can be dangerous for the younger baby as it could lead to premature birth and lung problems. But in case of Mrs. Julia Grovenburg's case, it should not lead to a problem as the gap between the two babies is only two-and-a-half weeks.

Sultan Kosen : World's Tallest Man is 8ft 1in Tall!

Sultan Kosen, a 26-year-old Turkish man, is now the officially recognized tallest man in the world. At 8ft 1in (2.47m) Kosen is about 4in (10cm) taller than the previous title-holder Bao Xishun. Kosen also has the largest hands and feet in the world. His hands measure 10.8in (27.5cm) and his feet 14.3in (36.5cm). Kosen's name will enter Guinness Book of Records for 2010.

On Thursday Guinness World Records confirmed Kosen's titles at the launch of the 2010 edition of the Guinness World Records book in London. A spokesman for Guinness World Records said Mr Kosen was the first person in more than a decade it had recognized as being more than 8ft in height.

Sultan Kosen grew normally until he was 10, but then a tumor caused him to develop a medical condition called pituitary gigantism, which affects hormone production and results in extreme growth, thickening of bones and large extremities. The tumor was removed last year and his growth stopped.

Because, people who write lies press harder on the paper, have longer pen strokes and produce taller letters than those writing the truth. No, this is not my assumption, but the findings of a scientific study that was recently published in the Journal of Applied Cognitive Psychology. And the study concludes that yes, handwriting can be used to detect lies.

The unique study was conducted by a group of researchers at the University of Haifa, Israel. For the study, the researchers asked 34 volunteers to write two short paragraphs, one recalling a real memory, the other a fictitious event. For writing, a wireless electronic pen with a pressure-sensitive tip was provided to the volunteers.

After analyzing the writings, the researchers then found those who wrote lies (about the fictitious event) pressed harder on the paper, had longer pen strokes and produced taller letters than those telling the truth. It means our handwriting tells the state of our mind?

But why? Why handwriting changes when we lie? The researchers thinks that while writing lies the human brain works harder to invent facts, which in turn interfere with normal writing process. So, in the case of false writing, the average pressure, stroke length and height were significantly higher than in the true writing condition.

"A lie detector that analyzes handwriting has many advantages over the existing detectors, since it is less threatening for the person being examined, is much more objective and does not depend on human interpretation. The system also provides measures that the individual has difficulty controlling during performance. This is certainly a system that can improve - alongside the existing detectors - our ability to identify lies," the researchers concluded.

Deadly Staph Germ in US Beaches

Attention beach goers! A dip in the ocean may give you a deadly infections! Researchers at the University of Washington discovered a dangerous Staph bacteria in the sand and water at five beaches along the coast of Washington. The germ is a multidrug resistant form of Staphylococcus aureus and is commonly known as MRSA or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Marilyn Roberts, a microbiologist at the University of Washington and her team examined sand and water samples that were collected from 10 Washington beaches between February and September of 2008. The researchers identified Staphylococcus aureus on nine public beaches, and seven of the 13 samples were multidrug resistant, demonstrating resistance to vancomycin as well as other medications. Marilyn gave her report on Saturday at an American Society for Microbiology's Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy in San Francisco.

According to Marilyn, five of the samples found on the beach and in the sand more closely resembled hospital-acquired MRSA than the bacteria found in the community. Three of the samples, from three beaches 10 miles apart, were virtually identical, she says. "One would think they came from the same source," Marilyn added. But it is not clear from where all of those organisms are coming from!

Well, this is not the first time that MRSA is found in marine water and beaches. Back in February, a group of researchers from the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine had also reported Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA in a South Florida beach.

Tai Shan, a Giant Panda, recently celebrated his 4th birthday at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. World's Smallest Car Peel P50

Peel P50 is 54 in (1,372 mm) long and 41 in (1,041 mm) wide and weighs just 59 kg (130 lb). Approximately 50 Peel P50s were sold at £199 each. The P50 used a 49 cc (3.0 cu in) DKW engine which gave it a top speed of approximately 61 kilometres per hour (38 mph), and was equipped with a three-speed manual transmission that had no reverse gear. Wikipedia is free online encyclopedia built collaboratively using Wiki software. Right now it contains more than 2,922,121 articles and is considered as one of the most reliable sources of information on various topics.

But Rob Matthews, a graphic design student from Brighton, Sussex, thought differently. He gave a shape to the popular online resource by converting it into a gigantic book of 5,000 pages. Take a look at the picture.

The book contains 437 featured articles from Wikipedia, which were selected on the basis of quality, accuracy, neutrality, completeness and style. It took Rob two weeks to produce the book, which is 1ft 7ins thick!

"I'm comparing the Internet Wikipedia to a traditional encyclopedia by putting it in the same format", Rob said. "I wanted to make a comment on how everyone goes to the Internet these days for information, yet it is very unreliable compared to what it has replaced", he added.

Pink Phobia in Baby Flamingos!

Pink color is common in flamingos. Young flamingos hatch with gray plumage, but adults range from light pink to bright red due to aqueous bacteria and beta carotene obtained from their food supply. A well-fed, healthy flamingo is more vibrantly colored and is considered as a more desirable mate. So, what will happen if a flamingo develops pink phobia? Lots of trouble. Isn't it? Actually, it happened with a pair of flamingo chicks at London Zoo.

The birds, named Little and Large, developed the pink-phobia after being fed using a pink sock puppet. The cute chicks have since refused to have anything to do with the color pink - which could be a problem when they move into the flamingo pool.

Zoo staff are now hoping they get over their aversion before developing their distinctive color, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Keeper Alison Brown, 30, said: "To try to encourage Little to feed by himself we've been wearing a hand puppet which imitates adult flamingos, but unfortunately he was really terrified of the socks."

Ms Brown added: "We'll just have to hope they get used to the color pink, but I'm sure it won't be a problem. Once Little gets his own pink color he'll be fine."

An Italian woman, who arrived late for the Air France flight 447 that crashed in the Atlantic last week, was not so lucky after all. Call it coincidence or fate, she has been killed in a car accident in Austria.

Johanna Ganthaler was holidaying in Brazil with her husband and missed Air France Flight 447 after turning up late at Rio de Janeiro airport on May 31, The Times reported. Later, the couple managed to get a flight back to France and all the 228 people aboard flight 447 lost their lives after the plane crashed into the Atlantic.

But destiny had something else in store for her. Ganthaler died when their car turned across a road and swerved into an oncoming truck on an Austrian road earlier this week. Her husband who was in the car with her escaped death with seriously injuries.

This reminds us of the movie "Final Destination", where air crash survivors dies after someday, like everything was already planned! Yes, this is life. No one can be sure about what will happen next.

The conceptual basis of The Crack Garden is to reveal the potential for beauty that underlies the concrete and asphalt that is the predominant ground plane material of the urban landscape. The interventions into the site of The Crack Garden were primarily actions of removal rather than the addition of new layers and material. By eliminating portions of the existing concrete and exposing the soil beneath, potential is released, and new opportunities for the garden arise. The side of the garden along the residents' building is kept open for social activities, and plants selected for the cracks can tolerate foot traffic, which allows for multiple uses throughout the garden.

Yale Sued over "The Night Café"

"The Night Café" is the name of a famous oil painting created in 1888, by Vincent van Gogh. It is on display at the Yale University Art Gallery for almost 50 years. Take a look at the picture above. Now the interesting thing is that, the Ivy League University is being sued by a man over the ownership rights of the painting.

Pierre Konowaloff from France, claim that he is the great-grandson and heir of Ivan Morozov, who originally acquired the painting in 1908. The painting was with Morozov until the Russian Government seized it during the Communist takeover of Russia in 1918. Then, the painting was sold to art galleries in Europe and New York. Finally, Yale received the painting through a bequest from Yale alumnus Stephen Carlton Clark in 1961.

"The Night Café" depicts the interior of the cafe, with a half-curtained doorway in the center background leading, presumably, to more private quarters. Five customers sit at tables along the walls to the left and right, and a waiter in a light coat, to one side of a pool table near the center of the room, stands facing the viewer.

Konowaloff alleges Clark knew of the painting's ownership history and that "Yale engaged in a policy of willful ignorance" when it accepted the piece in 1961. "Yale's continued and wrongful detention of the unlawfully confiscated 'The Night Cafe' is prohibited by customary and international treaty law," his attorneys wrote in the filings. Konowaloff wants the immediate return of the painting as well as damages.

1 in 4 Americans Texting While Driving

Elderly people who report impaired appetite are more likely to die sooner compared to those who had good appetite, the findings of a new study suggests. The study, findings of which was published in the May issue of the Journal of Nutrition, Health & Aging, pointed that information on an elderly patient's eating habits may be important for health providers regarding risk for patient deterioration and mortality.

The study, conducted by Dr. Danit Shahar, a researcher with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev's S. Daniel Abraham International Center for Health and Nutrition and Department of Epidemiology, demonstrated a link between the Daily Activity Energy Expenditure (an accurate measurement of total physical activity), appetite and mortality among well functioning community-dwelling adults.

During the study, the researchers analyzed DAEE and dietary factors, including self-reported appetite, enjoyment of eating and intake assessed by the Block Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and Healthy Eating Index (HEI) of 298 older participants (ages 70-82 years) in the Health ABC study. Participants who reported improved appetite were at lower risk for mortality. Similarly, participants who reported good appetite at baseline had a low risk for mortality.

"These findings are important because they show how subjective appetite measurement can predict death, even when adjusting for health and many other variables," said Dr. Danit Shahar.

After one-hour operation the experts successfully repaired the lower beak and replaced the top beak with an artificial one made out of synthetic resins. Cathedral Bells play John Lennon's 'Imagine'

Last week Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral rang out the tune of famous anti-religion song 'Imagine', as part of an arts festival. It was really odd for a cathedral to play such a song. That's why hundreds of people gathered outside the cathedral to hear John Lennon's 'Imagine'.

The original idea to play 'Imagine', which Lennon himself described the song as "anti-religious, anti-conventional", on church bells came from artist Cleo Evans. Evans was commissioned by a cultural festival called Futuresonic to develop the concept with the cathedral.

A team of seven volunteer bell ringers played the 1971 song after practising for months on hand bells. The team was led by Sam Austin, 23, a student at Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music. The bells in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral are the highest and heaviest ringing peal bells in the world.

Yes, studies have shown that obese heart patients have better survival and have fewer strokes and heart attacks than normal-weight or underweight heart patients.

Lavie, MD, of the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, "Obese patients with heart disease respond well to treatment and have paradoxically better outcomes and survival than thinner patients". But, though many studies proved that fact many cardiologists haven't heard of this or don't believe it.

Yes, obesity is harmful. And compared to lean people, overweight and obese people have a much higher incidence of heart attacks, strokes, and death from other cardiovascular causes. But when when normal or underweight people get heart disease, their prognosis is worse than obese heart patients.

Why obese people do well? Dr. Lavie thinks that excess weight may be somewhat protective because obese patients have more reserves to fight disease than thinner patients. Another explanation might be that lean heart patients have more aggressive disease because they are genetically predisposed to develop heart disease and have worse outcomes.

Dr. Lavie warned that patients with heart disease shouldn't assume that gaining weight will protect them. The findings of the study appeared in the May issue of Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Benjamin Franklin letters found in London

The letters were copied by Thomas Birch, a compiler and transcriber of historical documents.

Houston’s discovery has remained a secret for two years while he had the documents verified for authenticity. All 47 letters, with an explanatory forward by Houston will appear in April’s issue of The William and Mary Quarterly.

The 47 letters, include letters to and from Franklin’s son William; letters to and from Braddock or his secretary, William Shirley Jr.; a letter to Franklin’s wife, Deborah;(supposedly a “hot” one) and a letter from the governor of Massachusetts, William Shirley Sr. Houston said the letters reveal little new information about Franklin, but they show his skill as a negotiator and his role as a military strategist.

It is reported that two college buddies in Pennsylvania spent the month of March sending text messages. Why? Because the pair wanted to break the World Record for Monthly Text Messages! So, Nick Andes, 29, and Doug Klinger, 30, exchanged total 217,000 text messages during March.

Restoration of Berlin Wall Paintings

1 in 10 US Youth Addicted to Video Games

A new study conducted by the Iowa State University and the National Institute on Media and Family found that 1 in 10 American children are addicted to video games.

The study, led by Dr Douglas Gentile, a psychology professor at Iowa State University, was published in the journal Psychological Science and used data from a Harris Poll of nearly 1,200 children ages 8 to 18 from across the US. The study found that 88 per cent of US kids played video games at least occasionally, and on average children play about 13 hours of video games a week.

The researchers classified gamers as "pathological" if they exhibited at least six of 11 symptoms of addiction. The pathological gamers in the study played video games 24 hours per week, about twice as much as non-pathological gamers. They also were more likely to have video game systems in their bedrooms, reported having more trouble paying attention in school, received poorer grades in school, had more health problems, were more likely to feel "addicted," and even stole to support their habit.

The study also found that addicted gamers were twice as likely to have been diagnosed with attention problems such as Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

The study asked a group of 70 people who do not own a dog were asked to match photos of 41 dog owners to three possible breeds - labrador, poodle or Staffordshire bull terrier. Dog owners were correctly matched to their breed of dog above the level of chance.

But when the researchers tested the dog owners' personalities, they found no strong links between any particular personality trait and choice of dog breed. So, the resemblance between the appearance of pets and their owners is only skin deep. Don't take it seriously.

North America's Smallest Meat-eating Dinosaur

Canadian researchers have discovered the North America's smallest known meat-eating dinosaur. Termed as 'Hesperonychus', the tiny dinosaur was just half the size of a domestic cat and probably hunted and ate insects, mammals, amphibians and maybe even baby dinosaurs.

Reporting their findings on March 16 issue of journal "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences", Nick Longrich from University of Calgary and Philip Currie from University of Alberta said that Hesperonychus, which means "western claw," a new genus of carnivorous dinosaur prowled southeastern Alberta in Western Canada during the late cretaceous period.

Weighing nearly two kilograms and standing about 50 centimeters tall, Hesperonychus elizabethae ran about on two legs and had razor-like claws and an enlarged sickle-shaped claw on its second toe. So, it looks much like a miniature version of the famous Velociraptor, a hunter with a fierce reputation and a killer claw

Fossilized remains of Hesperonychus, were collected in 1982 from several locations including Dinosaur Provincial Park. But paleontologists had assumed that those remains were of juvenile animals. The fossils remained unstudied for 25 years until Nick Longrich came across them in 2007. One of those fossilized remains was a well-preserved pelvis, which helped in determining that it was actually an adult dinosaur.

Do you love to spend some time alone? I am sure that most of you do. People want to spend some time alone, because they want to enjoy the 'silence' and talk to their soul. Silence is an aid to our health and a tonic to our happiness. Like many best things in life, you can get it without spending a dime! Still, people ignore it as they live in the age of noise.

Silence has unseen power. The nightfall creeps silently and the day breaks without noise. The silent snowfall makes no sound and the light passes through hard substances like glass making no noise. But silence, as all other things, has other side of its picture also. While many of its uses are profitable there are few that can cause harm. The silent fall of snow can make a place beautiful. But too much of it can bring destruction. The water that evaporates silently to fall as rain is very useful for crops but too much of it can cause great destruction.

Meditative silence is as essential as food for our growth. To study you need silence, to recoup from illness you need quiet, to have a good change from business life you must run to a quiet resort. We cannot lead peaceful lives unless we think of peaceful thoughts. All the great teachers and sages of the world have taught that truth must be sought in solitude; not in business activities or human affairs but in the desert calm. When we meditate over our weakness we learn to be strong. The time spent in contemplative silence will always be profitable. Meditation will also give you wisdom, which is far superior than knowledge earned from practical life.

Silence is the temple of purest thoughts. So, go to that temple daily, spend a few moments, and there you will hear the whisper of nature, the touch of happiness. And soon you will learn to live a happy life.

Man attends own Funeral!

Ever heard of someone attending his/her own funeral? Believe it or not, a Romanian man from Vadastra in Olt county staged his own funeral while he was still alive to make sure everything went to plan! Take a look at the man.

Marin Voinicu, 73, invited fellow villagers, relatives and friends to his home to mark his "future passing". The village priest also accepted his invitation to officiate a funeral sermon at the Voinicu's home.

"I did everything by the book. I even dug my own grave in the cemetery and laid down in it to see how it feels."Mr Voinicu told.He also said to his relatives to wail at his headstone for a test run.He was fully satisfied with his own funeral.

Mr Voinicu explained the decision to organize his own funeral because he didn't want to leave the task on his family's shoulders. His family also agreed to go along with it because they felt it would be easier to organize the event when they were not distracted by grieving.

Free Books at Bristol Warehouse!

Last week, Bookbarn, the UK's largest used book warehouse gave away books for free. How it happened? Bookbarn's lease on the premises in Arnos Vale, Bristol recently expired and when the firm moved out it left behind thousands of books in the 56,000 square metre warehouse. So, the managers of the Paintworks site have invited people to help themselves in cleaning the space.

When the doors were opened thousands of people arrived to pick their favorite books. Some arrive with boxes, crates, prams and even supermarket trolleys to take whatever they can get there! And the result is thousands of books scattered around the floors of the warehouse in Bedminster, Bristol. It is reported that the giveaway will continue this week also.

81st Academy Awards and the Winners

"Slumdog Millionaire," a rags-to-riches tale set in Mumbai, India, took away eight Oscars at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony which took place at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday. "Slumdog Millionaire" won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

Hollywood actor Sean Penn won the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of a the first openly gay politician in the US in the movie "Milk," while Kate Winslet won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in "The Reader".

The Dark Knight star Heath Ledger today became the second person to win an Oscar posthumously after he was named the Best Supporting Actor. The 28-year-old Australian actor died in January last year of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. Heath Ledger's mother Sally Bell, father Kim Ledger and sister Kate accepted the award.

Cool Games for Apple platforms

I love to play solitaire games when I am free. Earlier I used to enjoy them on my PC. But, now I have a Mac and once again I want to play my old favorite games. So, I searched the Internet for Apple solitaire and found some cool games. In fact there are lots and lots of games for apple platforms. One of such game is Simply Solitaire, which I picked from macgamesandmore.com. It comes with many options for different backgrounds and cards. So, it looks interesting and always new!

During my search, I also found some other Mac games or games for Mac OS X computers. Most of them are good. Really good. I will probably download them later, as now I am busy with my favorite Mac Spider solitaire. On the other hand, I also need some cool iPhone games for mobile handset. For that, I will probably visit some mobile game sites.

Madonna's Nude Photo fetches $37,500 at auction

It is reported that a nude photo of Madonna (not the above one) has fetched $37,500 at an auction in New York. According to Christie's auction house, an European buyer purchased it for $37,500, which is more than double it's expected price. Earlier, Christie’s Auction House estimated that it would sell for as much as $15,000.

The black and white, full-frontal photograph was taken in 1979 by photographer Lee Friedlander. At that time, Madonna was just another dancer, struggling to make ends meet in New York. So, she responded to a classified ad by Lee Friedlander, seeking a nude model and the rest is history. That particular photo and six others from the shoot later appeared in Playboy magazine in 1985. It is reported that Madonna was paid just $25 for that photo session.

Cow Urine Soft Drink!

Soon India will get a brand new soft drink made from cow urine. What? Did I said cow urine? Yes, it is cow urine and in fact the product is in it's final stage of development. Thanks to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the biggest and oldest Hindu nationalist group of India, who is behind this initiative.

According to the head of Cow Protection Department of RSS, Om Prakash, the drink - called "gau jal" or "cow water" - was undergoing lab tests and would be launched "very soon, maybe by the end of this year". The drink won't smell like urine and will be tasty too. "Its USP will be that it's going to be very healthy. It won't be like carbonated drinks and would be devoid of any toxins," Mr Prakash added.

Cow and bull worship was a common practice among Hindus and slaughtering them is illegal in most parts of India. The cow urine drink is the latest attempt by the RSS to cleanse India of foreign influence and promote its Hindu ideology. RSS claims that cow urine can cure ailments ranging from liver disease to obesity and even cancer.

So, what you think about this exotic soft drink? It really sounds weird, but I am sure that many people will actually drink it. Many people will drink it, as it will be branded as a "Hindu" product.

6000 Years Old Human Brain!

Researchers have uncovered the oldest known human brain, about 6000 years old, from an ancient Armenian cave. A 6000 years old human brain? Can you believe this? According to Gregory Areshian of the University of California, the researchers found three Copper Age human skulls, each buried in a separate niche inside the three-chambered, 600-square-meter cave that overlooks southeastern Armenia's Arpa River.

After initial study conducted independently by three biological anthropologists, it is now confirmed that the skulls belonged to 12 to 14-year-old girls. Remarkably, one skull contained a shriveled but well-preserved brain. "This is the oldest known human brain from the Old World," Gregory Areshian of the University of California said.

Scientists are now busy in studying the brain that have noted preserved blood vessels on its surface. Surviving red blood cells have been extracted from those hardy vessels for analysis. The cave has also offered surprising new insights into the origins of modern civilizations, such as evidence of a wine making enterprise and an array of culturally diverse pottery.

World's Largest Pavement Art

More than 2,000 children in Cluj, Transylvania, Romania, have created the World's Largest Piece of Pavement Art. Take a look at the picture above. The youngsters drew the 7,000 yard train using 10,000 boxes of chalk. The world record, which they set last year, has been confirmed by the World Records Academy.

According to news sources, the drawing started as a school game but gradually grew as teachers and other pupils started to join in.

"We didn't mean to break a record. We just kept going until we ran out of pavement. Thank goodness the rain kept off," said one of the organiser.

Britney Spears to write Autobiography

Singer Britney Spears is reportedly set to sign a $14 million publishing deal for writing an autobiography. According to the Daily Mirror, Britney is close to detailing her rise to stardom and recent troubles after landing a multi-million-dollar book deal to write her memoirs.

Well, this may not be a bad idea. Because there are numerous unofficial Britney Spears biographies and they’ve never been 100% accurate. Now, her fans can expect to learn something new about her private life. But, the point is how deep she will go into her autobiography! Am I right?
